Know Your Temperature
One of the best things about air frying is that you don’t need a lot of oil to cook your food perfectly. This method only requires a tablespoon to get the best results! However, because there is so little oil used when cooking, it’s essential to ensure you use an accurate temperature not to burn your food.
The best type of kitchen scale will measure the weight and temperature of your food in one go. Still, if you’re without a kitchen scale, using an oven thermometer in conjunction with your fryer’s temperature gradations on its control panel is best. You can use this technique to make the best air-fried chicken.
Preheat the Oil or Not?
An air fryer uses a fraction of the oil compared to deep fryers without compromising flavors and textures.
While adding your food straight into a cold fryer is technically possible, heating the oil before cooking will ensure that your chicken comes out extra crispy.
If you’re cooking frozen foods, it is advisable to put them in the fridge to thaw overnight and then add your oil for preheating.
A Quick Note on Cooking Frozen Food
The temperature gradations of air fryers often recommend cooking at a temperature that’s 20°C lower than if you’re cooking fresh foods. This is because frozen foods do not need as much time to cook, and they will continue to cook outside the fryer (which you don’t want).
If you’re cooking frozen foods, try to do so as close to the end of your air frying session as possible – also, make sure you put them in at a temperature that’s 20°C lower than if they were fresh.
Know Your Cooking Times and Add It into Your Schedule
It’s easy to know when deep-frying chicken or other meats when they’re done because you can measure the internal temperature with a quick-read meat thermometer.
Air frying is a little different – there’s no oil in the food, so looking at color isn’t going to work.
To save yourself from losing your marbles when cooking, it is advisable to take note of your cooking times and add them to your schedule.
Remember, you don’t want to overcook your food – that will only make the meat dry. If you’re cooking for kids, try cutting their chicken breast in half to reduce the cooking time accordingly.
Final Thoughts
Air frying chicken is a great way to cook your food, but it’s essential to ensure you follow the guide above for the best results. You can get the best out of your air fryer with these cooking hacks.
How to grow berries in your garden?
Is it OK to air fry raw chicken?
Since chicken breast is lean, it benefits from high-temperature baking for a shorter period of time, and the air fryer offers it in spades. After testing a variety of temperatures, I found that 375 degrees F is the best temperature for air frying chicken.
How long does air fryer take to cook chicken?
Place chicken in a single layer in the air fryer. Cook at 400° for 8 minutes, then flip chicken over and continue cooking for 5-12 more minutes, or until the internal temperature of the chicken is 165° F at the thickest part of the breast.
Is it better to air fry or cook chicken?
Air frying is the best way to cook tender chicken in less time, since there’s no preheating the oven. And with my simple seasoning blend, these flavorful chicken breasts not only make an easy weeknight dinner, but they’re perfect for meal prep too.
