If you plan to use a board instead of a serving plate, choose one that is not afraid of hot, does not absorb liquids and flavors, and is resistant to scratches and contact with a knife blade.

Serving boards made of natural stone are the most durable and durable, but at the same time the heaviest. Marble products – white or green – look attractive. The polished surface is not afraid of contact with fats and is easy to clean.

A novelty in the kitchen market – slate serving trays. Slate is a natural gray stone with a rough texture. They (if not banned by the manufacturer) can be used for short-term heating in the microwave and cooling in the refrigerator, but should not be placed in the oven.

Slate serving boards are suitable for serving appetizers, cheeses, sushi, steaks. The simplicity and rigor of the design of slate trays fits perfectly into the loft style. Ceramic boards are suitable for serving any dish, if the surface is glazed. In fact, this is the same plate for second courses, which is not afraid of hot, easy to clean, does not absorb fats and liquids. If there is no glaze, the product can only be used for dry products. When choosing, give preference to underglaze painting – such a pattern will not be erased and retain its brightness.

For lovers of fine tableware, there are serving trays and flat porcelain plates. Porcelain is based on the same clay, but the material is more durable, as it is less porous. Porcelain products are thinner, suitable for classics.
